It’s one of Eleuthera’s pink sand beaches, which made it even However, the food was completely delicious! I had Mahi Mahi, rice and beans, fried plantains and french fries! From there we went to Donovan's which was an interesting experience to say the least. The waitress was definitely on island time to say the least. The next one we tried had a beautiful view but was so expensive and they had run out of fish! So, we decided to go to another restaurant called Sammy's. We were supposed to go to this one restaurant down the street but it turned out to be closed, so we tried another. ![]() However once we reached the house and turned on the water we were shocked to find that we didn't have any! So, we all headed to the guys house to shower and get read to eat. Once we left the beach we headed back to take a shower and go get supper. This beach was beautiful! We even got to snorkel in it! Hannah and I saw a stingray and we all saw a HUGE lobster under the water! Holly, Nicole, Chelsey and I then decided to explore on the rocks and we saw a shark in the water and a huge fish! It was crazy!! Once we got to the beach it was so incredibly worth it though. It's down this incredibly long, bumpy road which was less than fun to ride down. Lighthouse Beach is a beach that the locals say is their little secret. I know I sound like a broken record but everyone here has been so incredibly nice-especially the kids! I've never felt so safe walking around a place at night as I do here.Īfter we ate tacos at the Island School we headed to Lighthouse Beach. While we were there a little girl came up to me, talked to me, sat beside me and basically ended up laying on me and told me I should sit beside her when we ate-of course, I obliged. After that we went to their poster sessions where they all stood around posters of their experiments and answered questions. It started pouring while we were there but luckily let up a little and we were able to take a tour of their campus. We sat through the presentations of their research and it was really interesting and quite frankly, a lot of it went over my head. ![]() The school is completely sustainable and they grown their own food, have required 4 mile swim or marathon runs, have only 20 minutes of phone a week and can't use their laptops at all-it's crazy! All the students there seem to love it though, and they all had accomplished great things while they were there. ![]() This is a school where sophomores and juniors in high school go for a semester and dive deep into the ocean and conduct ridiculously complicated experiments and do a lot of other hands on stuff. Saturday was a blast! We started off the morning with three new friends from UGA and headed to the Island School (click here to read about it).
